Chez Doris

Nuvatek is proud to support Chez Doris, a day shelter for women in difficulty.

On the morning of November 3rd, 1974, the body of a young woman was found in a shed. She had been raped and beaten to death. Her name was Doris and she was one of a growing number of destitute women in Montreal trying to survive in the street.

Chez Doris welcomes women for a hot meal, get a little sleep, be called by their names and, for a time, feel like ordinary people. For more information, go to www.chezdoris.ca

Shave to Save

Montréal, October 31, 2008 - To mark National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and for the eighth consecutive year, Astral Media’s MIX 96 (Montréal) asked its listeners to raise funds in support of the fight against breast cancer by “taking a little off the top” and participating in MIX 96’s Shave to Save Campaign. Response this year was overwhelming, and a total of $436,000 was raised for the Québec Breast Cancer Foundation.

Throughout the month, MIX 96 challenged the public to raise a minimum of $2,000.00. Once that goal was met, MIX 96 came to their place of business, company or school accompanied by a stylist from La Coupe Downtown to shave someone’s head. Over the course of the month of October, over 130 heads from different organizations went under the clippers, including over 35 women.
